Please check out the Patch Article / News Release provided by Coach Andy Carr on Milton T&F’s performance at the 2021 State Meet:

The Eagle Track & Field team competed at the 2021 GHSA 7A State Track & Field Championships on May 13-14 and produced some top-10 all-time marks and some medal-winning performances.

GIRLS
The Lady Eagles sent just one relay team to the state meet but came away with a medal winning performance and much more. Milton ran in the 4×800m relay, the first time the event has even been contested at the state meet and ran the school’s 2nd fastest time in history! The team of freshman Ella Grace Malcom, sophomore Annalise Crow, junior Megan Stechschulte & sophomore Farrah Frith produced a 9:48.53 good enough for 7th in the championship race, besting 9 teams. Malcom led-off and produced a strong kick to give the Lady Eagles the lead at the first exchange. Crow & Stechschulte kept Milton in the top-group on their legs and Frith carried the team to the finish line to secure a well-deserved medal. From the region meet contested 2 weeks ago, the Lady Eagles had improved their team time by almost 20 seconds and went from the 7th best all-time to 2nd best in school history.

BOYS
Milton as a team finished the state meet with 11 team points placing 20th out of 34 scoring schools. Leading the charge for the Eagles was senior Jack Petkash who was entered in two events and was able to score in both. Petkash placed 6th in the 3200m becoming the 2nd best performer for that event in school history with his 9:15.44 besting 10 competitors in the event. But Petkash saved his best for last as he went on to place 3rd in the 1600m (4:23.26) holding off 6 hard-charging competitors in the last 100 meters! The finishing spread from 3rd to 9th place was less than 1-second! Petkash is headed to Emory University to continue his athletic career. Also scoring for the Eagles was junior Andrew Dassler (7th-13 feet, 6 inches) in the pole vault. Dassler cleared 13 feet on his first attempt and then cleared his final scoring height on his 2nd attempt. At 14 feet Dassler was unable to clear the bar. Finally, and competing in the 3200 meters for Milton, senior captain Hayden Marshall raced to a 7-second personal best (9:24.05) and became the 5th best performer in school history placing 11th in the field.
