The Eagle track & field teams of Milton hosted its big invitational track meet for the first time in 2 years and came away with two school records, besting an existing record and many top-ten performances for the home Eagles!

GIRLS
The Lady Eagles (4th-98 pts) bested 9 teams as Milton posted one new school record, multiple top-10 marks and improved on a current school record. Cross-town rivals Cambridge (1st-198 pts) won the meet quite handily. The successes for the Lady Eagles started right away as junior Farrah Frith took down the school record in the 5000m (1st-18:32.48) in the 2nd race of the meet by 19-seconds to win the event easily. Three big runner-up performances came from Jade Sutters (2nd-57.54) in the 400m which is now the #2 all-time performance in school history,* Jessica Sheinkopf* (2nd-12.84) in the 100m & then those two combined with Haydn Bendall & Nora Megenity on the 4×200m relay (2nd-1:48.46), lowering their school record by almost 2 full seconds!

BOYS
Milton (5th-89.5 pts) bested 7 schools over 2 days of some very intense competition that had multiple Eagle event winners and a new school record. The Bears of Cambridge (1st-155 pts) were the dominant meet winners. Cory Chambers led the charge as the Milton distance runner won a tactical 1500m (1st-4:22.34) in the 7th best time in school history and came back to finish runner up in the 2-Mile (2nd-9:53.88) besting the existing school record by over 4-seconds! Other event winners included Andrew Dassler in a season’s best in the pole vault (1st-14’) and remains undefeated on the season, a 1-2 finish in the long jump by Devon Dahunsi (1st-20’5”) & Jack Lawson (2nd-19’8.5”) with Dahunsi’s performance now 9th best in school history and Jaden Bender in the discus (1st-129’) which makes him the 5th best performer in school history!

Three Milton stadium records were also set during the competition by visiting schools with Johns Creek boys bettering their existing 4×200m relay record, Blessed Trinity’s girls setting a new 4×200m relay mark & a new 400m hurdles record was set by Dominick Lawshea of Cambridge.

Next up for the track & field teams is a JV invitational at Cambridge on Wednesday, March 9th & a first-ever trip to the Buffalo’s River Ridge Invitational on Saturday, March 12th.
